The Upper Arlington Fire Division placed this 2012 Sutphen quint with a 100-foot, five section aerial platform in service. It replaced a 2001 Sutphen platform.

The design of the new ladder truck was a joint effort by the officers and firefighters assigned to Station 72, along with the city’s fleet maintenance division. This included research of technological advances, safety equipment, and space utilization.

Some of the innovations include a turning radius that is four feet less than the previous apparatus, despite a longer vehicle. To meet environmental needs, the emissions system uses high temperature technology to produce cleaner exhaust output.

The Custom SPH100 aerial platform is powered by a Cummins ISX11.9 500hp with a Jacobs engine brake and a Allison GEN IV EVS4000 transmission.

Water delivery comes from a Hale QMAX 1,500-gpm single-stage pump and a 300-gallon poly tank. Auxiliary power is provided by a Onan 15kw hydraulic generator.
