PASSAIC, NJ, AUG. 31, 2011 – Units were dispatched to an early-morning house fire. First-due units arrived to find a large, 1½-story frame dwelling with heavy fire in the basement, first floor and attic. A second alarm was transmitted. After confirming the structure was vacant, an exterior attack was commenced. One ladder pipe, a tower ladder and several handlines were put into operation. After about two hours, most of the heavy fire was knocked down and the fire was placed under control.

ROCHESTER, NY, OCT. 14, 2011 – Crews found heavy smoke showing from a private dwelling and located the fire in the rear of the second floor. Crews opened the roof and had the fire knocked down in 20 minutes. The fire was held with a first-alarm assignment and one extra company.

HOUSTON, TX, OCT. 18, 2011 – A strong north wind quickly spread a fire through the second floor of a vacant building last used as a convenience store in far southwest Houston during the early evening. Two ladder pipes and several handlines quickly knocked down the two-alarm blaze. Arson units were called to investigate.

OLD ORCHARD BEACH, ME, AUG. 1, 2011 – Mutual aid from Biddeford, Saco and Scarborough responded to the scene of a fire in the Galaxy Night Club. The wooden building measured 75 by 50 feet and was two stories high. Built in 1931, there were no sprinklers. Goodwins Mills provided station coverage. The building was a total loss.
