CONNERSVILLE, IN, NOV. 7, 2010 – Fire destroyed a vacant factory in downtown Connersville. The one- and two-story, brick and heavy-timber building was built in the early 1900s. The Connersville Fire Department was dispatched to a reported fire at the former Creative Fixtures factory at 1550 Western Ave. at 3:43 P.M. Two engines and a ladder responded with seven firefighters.
Fire was through the roof in the center of the building on arrival of the fire department. Fire Chief Rick Free requested mutual aid from the Bentonville, Cambridge, Everton, Glenwood, Milton, Raleigh, Richmond and Rushville fire departments. With the use of multiple master streams and numerous handlines, the fire was declared under control at 11:50 P.M. The last Connersville units left the scene at 8:50 A.M. on Nov. 8.
