California Wildfire Grows To 800+ Acres

KING CITY, Calif. (AP) -- Nearly 700 firefighters are battling a fire in the Los Padres National Forest that has burned 850 acres.

According to the U.S. Forest Service, the blaze is about 35 percent contained. Authorities do not expect to have it completely contained until next Thursday. About 700 firefighters are on the scene.

The fire is burning in the Ventana Wilderness area of the forest, about 20 miles west of King City. The fire, started Wednesday night, has not destroyed nor threatened any structures. Its cause is under investigation.
