    Grant to Provide Firefighters Gear

    The city fire department won a $194,810 federal grant to purchase 100 sets of firefighters' turnouts, protective clothing worn into fires, to meet a requirement to have two sets per employee because of the number of local toxic incidents.Congress added $210 million for the direct grants to local agencies because of the heightened concern about terrorism.
