Drill #99: Lockout/Tag Out

All firefighters need to understand the hazards of not following “Control of Hazardous Energy” 29CFR part 1910.147, better known as Lockout/Tag Out. Readers will learn the difference between Lockout and Tag Out and which method is preferred.

The drill is designed to be a single page of information to conjure up discussions among your crew members. Sit down and talk about the exercises, and how they may apply to your company. But, just don't read them. Get moving. Head to an appropriate area and train.

Post the information in prominent places in your stations so it's readily available for review.

Please remember to check your Standard Operating Procedures or Guidelines (SOPs/SOGs) before using the drill.
