July 5: Westminster, CA – A fire that ripped through a condominium and injured a woman was sparked by an explosion during a drug operation. The blaze caused about $150,000 in damage to the two-story unit. About 35 firefighters responded and were assisted by the Fountain Valley Fire Department.

July 9: Waldorf, MD – More than 100 firefighters and emergency personnel battled a two-alarm fire at a learning center. The blaze, sparked by a lightning strike, led to the evacuation of 80 people and burned 18 of 36 classrooms. 

July 15: Buena Park, CA – A fire likely caused by an electrical malfunction in an extension cord caused an estimated $370,000 in damage to a single-story home, making it a total loss. Four adults and two children were displaced; a neighbor’s mobile home and truck were also damaged. 
 
Aug. 4: New Hyde Park, NY – A 22-year-old woman crashed her car through the bay doors of a firehouse, slamming into two fire apparatus parked inside. She was arrested and faced multiple charges after surprised firefighters removed a stolen python from around the woman’s neck. No firefighters were injured and the snake was returned to the pet store.
