Recent fires from around the country

JAN. 1: MOUNT HOLLY, NJ – Dozens of firefighters battled through the night to extinguish a massive four-alarm fire that destroyed a manufacturing company.

JAN. 7: CHISHOLM, MN – A building housing an antique and collectibles store with renters located in facilities above was engulfed by fire. Crews were able to keep it from spreading to the stores next door.

JAN. 18: LAS VEGAS, NV – Six people were displaced by two different apartment fires in one night.  One was believed to be started in the living room near a sofa with candles and smoking materials present; however, the exact cause could not be determined. The second fire began in a bedroom with an electrical origin.

JAN. 31: CASPER, WY – Fire destroyed the Ten Sleep fire station, including its five engines. Snow from the roof frayed a propane line, causing gas to slowly fill the interior. Once it reached the heating system, the structure ignited.

FEB. 3: OCALA, FL – Three engines, two battalion chief and additional emergency vehicles responded to a fully involved house fire that displaced an elderly couple.

FEB. 5: FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA – Damage was estimated at $65,000 after a blaze sparked by fireplace ashes too close to combustibles in a single-family two-story home.
