Firehouse shares recent fires from around the country.

Palmer Township, PA, June 24, 2016—The Palmer Municipal Fire Department was dispatched to a well-involved dwelling fire. A mutual-aid call brought assistance from multiple Northampton County stations. The fire destroyed the structure and heavily damaged an adjacent structure. No serious injuries were reported.

Little Egg Harbor Township, NJ, July 25, 2016—A lightning strike ignited a structure fire on Ivy Creek Drive. Within minutes, police arrived on scene and advised that they had heavy smoke and flames showing. The West Tuckerton Fire Department was dispatched, and when command arrived on scene, a second alarm was quickly struck, bringing in crews from the Mystic Island, Tuckerton, Parkertown and New Gretna fire departments. With two 1¾-inch lines stretched to protect B and D exposures, the deck gun was used to knock down the main fire. The fire was completely knocked down within an hour. West Tuckerton remained on scene for almost 8 hours to help with overhaul. No one was injured.

Maywood, CA, June 14, 2016—More than 250 firefighters from several jurisdictions across the Los Angeles area were called to battle a commercial building fire at a metal recycling facility. Upon arrival, crews could see heavy smoke and fire through the roof of the large, one-story structure. Vernon fire units engaged in a defensive operation to bring the fire under control.
