Scholarship Opportunities for Fire and Life Safety Educators from NFPA

The National Fire Protection Association’s Public Education Division recently announced the opening of 2010 WSCE Fire and Life Safety Scholarship and other updates. This is a wonderful opportunity to apply for potential fire safety training for your educator, funding for a fire and life safety program as well as to seek recognition for the hard work of your department's fire safety educator. 

2010 Educator of the Year
Deadline February 26, 2010
NFPA is looking for fire and life safety educators who work for a local fire department, use NFPA's Risk Watch®, Learn Not to Burn®Remembering WhenTM or Fire Prevention Week materials. use NFPA materials in a consistent and creative way, demonstrate excellence and innovation, reaching out to the community with NFPA materials and view NFPA as the source for safety information.
The 2010 "Educator of the Year" will receive $1,000 honorarium and travel to Las Vegas, in June 2010 for an award presentation at the opening general session of the NFPA annual conference. The local fire department will receive a $1,000 donation to support public education activities.

Rolf Jensen Award
Deadline February 5, 2010
The Rolf H. Jensen Memorial Public Education Grant is presented annually to a local fire department to support a fire and life safety education community-wide program or campaign.
The Rolf H. Jensen Memorial Public Education Grant provides a $5,000 grant to one local fire department to support a community-wide fire and life safety education program or campaign. Funded by the RJA Group, the grant is open to any fire department (career or volunteer) located in the United States.

The 2010 WSCE Scholarship
Deadline March 19, 2010
NFPA is awarding up to 30 scholarships for fire and life safety educators. Scholarship winners will receive free conference registration, three nights lodging and some meals.
