Five Colorado firefighters have traveled to Kenya to help train those in their profession in that country.

The firefighters, who are part of the Denver Fire Department and South Metro Fire Rescue, taught their overseas counterparts search and rescue, ladder techniques, and hose and fire attack strategies, KUSA-TV reports. The training is part of a two-week program conducted through Africa Fire Mission.

This is the second time Denver firefighter Joe Seastone has participated in the program.

“I went out with three other people (last year), and we were overwhelmed by the amount of people we had, and all of the training they wanted us to cover,” he told KUSA.
