Michael O'Brian

Mr. O’Brian has a varied career in the public and private sectors with 15 years of experience in the fire service. Currently he is serving the Brighton Area Fire Authority as the Fire Marshal. Mr. O’Brian’s primary duties include all aspects of the fire marshal division, department administration and ensuring that the fire fighters are operationally ready,

Mr. O’Brian is the creator of Inspector911.com, a web-page dedicated to assisting inspectors involved in code enforcement. The site provides checklists, news, and training that is needed for every inspector. Mr. O’Brian is the current past president of the Michigan Fire Inspector Society and past president of Oakland County Fire Prevention Society. He is also an active member of the International Code Council, National Fire Protection Association, local inspector groups.

He holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Public Safety Administration from Eastern Michigan University and is a registered plan reviewer, certified fire inspector and holds multiple certifications from NFPA and ICC.

Mr. O’Brian is currently a registered plan examiner, certified fire inspector with the State of Michigan as well as a certified fire fighter, paramedic and is an Instructor under the Bureau of Construction Codes and Fire Safety as well as certified fire service instructor. In 2004 Mr. O’Brian was named the 2004 Fire Inspector of the Year by Metropolitan Detroit Fire Inspector Society and in 2005 by the Michigan Fire Inspector Society.
