Off-Duty TX Medic Saves Neighbor’s Choking Baby

Aug. 15, 2023
Instincts kicked in for Eric Watson, a fulltime medic with Montgomery County Hospital District in Conroe

An off-duty paramedic, awaken from a nap, opened his door expecting to see a solicitor. Instead, it was a frantic mother with a choking baby.

“Please call 9-1-1, my child is choking!” the frantic mother could be heard on Eric Watson's ring doorbell camera saying.

He immediately jumped into action by calmly clearing the baby girl’s airway, KPRC reported.

She went back and forth between lethargy and crying after the back blows and open airway.

Watson is a full-time medic at the Montgomery County Hospital District and works part-time at the Mont Belvieu EMS.

Although they had never met, the infant's mother said she saw Watson in his uniform going and coming from work.

The girl was transported to a hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
