Recent fires from around the country.

Paterson, NJ, June 30, 2015—The Paterson, NJ, Fire Department responded to a well involved 2½-story frame dwelling with fire extending into both the B and D exposures.  Due to the advanced fire conditions, a second alarm was requested, and companies set up a defensive attack using one ladder pipe, one deck gun and several ground monitors and handlines on the main fire building and the B exposure. The fire eventually went to a fourth alarm.

Santa Barbara, CA, July 7, 2015—Santa Barbara County, CA, firefighters battled a fire that started on the exterior of a single-family home and spread inside. Multiple lines were pulled to protect exposures and begin fire attack. A second alarm was struck, bringing a total of five Santa Barbara County engines and several chief officers, as well as an engine, truck, breathing support and battalion chief from Santa Maria City. The cause of the fire was a propane barbeque that was lit too close to the house and spread to the eaves and interior.

Irwindale, CA, June 16, 2015—More than 50 Los Angeles County firefighters used hoselines, master streams and bulldozers to battle a stubborn fire in a compost manufacturing yard.

Los Angeles County, CA, June 24, 2015—Crews from the U.S. Forest Service, Los Angeles County and Los Angeles City attacked a fast-moving brush fire that ignited along I-5 in the Newhall Pass and moved quickly through the heavy, parched brush. More than 400 homes were evacuated as strike teams were requested from cities in the area. It took more than 450 firefighters, dozens of engine companies, four airtankers and seven helicopters to control the fire, which ultimately burned more than 400 acres.
