ROLLA, Mo. --

A woman and two children are dead after a fire at a home near the south-central Missouri town of Rolla.

The fire was reported around 9 a.m. Wednesday about two miles south of Rolla, and the home was fully engulfed in flames by the time firefighters arrived.

Phelps County Coroner Larry Swinfard told KSDK-TV the woman raised developmentally disabled children. Authorities say several children lived at the home.

Swinfard says the woman got out of the fire, but went back inside to try and save the children -- a 10-year-old girl and an infant.

It wasn't clear if anyone else was home at the time of the fire, or if anyone else was injured.
