MD Chief Dies after Medical Event at Wreck Scene

Queen Anne-Hillsboro Vol. Fire Co. Assistant Chief Daniel Lister responded to the crash when he suffered a medical emergency.

The assistant chief of the Queen Anne-Hillsboro Volunteer Fire Company died while working on a scene of a head-on crash Saturday afternoon with several people entrapped in the wreckage.

According to a news release from the fire company, Assistant Fire Chief Daniel "Danny" Lister was "operating on the scene of a motor vehicle collision with multiple patients" when he suffered a medical emergency. The crash happened on Maryland Route 404 at Old Queen Anne Road just before 2 p.m. 

Attempts to resuscitate Lister were not successful and he died at the University of Maryland Shore Regional Health at Easton. 

The Facebook page of Eastern Shore Fire EMS Police Breaking News reported four people were airlifted from the crash site and four were transported by ground for treatment. 

Funeral service arrangements will be announced when they are completed.
