Veteran Firefighter Dies at Jacksonville, FL, Fire Station

Heath J. O'Shea suffered a medical emergency and passed away while working at Jacksonville Fire Rescue Station 54.

A veteran member of Jacksonville Fire Rescue passed away on-duty Friday.

Heath J. O’Shea, 44, suffered a medical emergency while working at Station 54, according to ActionNewsJax.com.

"Despite the valiant efforts of JFRD personnel and the numerous nurses and doctors at the hospital, Engineer O’Shea passed away early this morning," officials told FirstCoastNews.com.

O'Shea, an engineer assigned to Tanker 54, had been with the department for 20 years.

“Engineer O’Shea selflessly and honorably served the City of Jacksonville throughout his distinguished career and his passing will forever leave a void in this community," the department shared in a statement.
