Companies from the Detroit, MI, Fire Department’s 1st Battalion responded to a fully involved fire in a vacant two-family dwelling. Two engines dumped their tanks through their deck guns and a ladder pipe was set up. The April 21, 2010, fire was extinguished in one hour.

Smith, 50, of Liberty Hose Company 1 in Williamstown, PA; Engineer Charles Hornberger, 60, of Milmont Park, PA, Fire Company Station 49; and Firefighter Richard L. Springman, 20, of the Trout Run, PA, Volunteer Fire Company, who died in the line of duty, July 2010
