DAYTON, Ohio --

A woman is in critical condition after Dayton firefighters pulled her from a burning home.

Fire crews responded to the home on Alaska Drive around 9:30 p.m., after neighbors called 911 to report flames and smoke coming from the house.

Firefighters saw flames in the living room and rushed inside to find the woman. Firefighters said there was so much stuff inside the house they couldn't get her out and had to cut out a window then pull the woman out of that hole.

Neighbors tried to help rescue the woman before fire crews arrived on scene. Debbie Eyler, said "The whole front end was on fire. Everybody came running to my house saying Elizabeth's house on fire. I yelled for my son and said Mike come and get her and he busted the front window out and tried to crawl in. She answered but he couldn't grab her to get her out."

Crews spent about 20 minutes working on the victim at the scene before taking her to the hospital. One firefighter was treated at the scene for exhaustion.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
