Virginia Firefighter Dies After Response

A Virginia firefighter died Aug. 4 within 24 hours of responding to two fires. Firefighter Jeffrey Alan Cocke, 59, suffered a pulmonary embolism, according to the USFA. After being treated at a local hospital for an unknown ailment, Cocke went home. However, two days later he went back to the hospital after exhibiting similar symptoms. He later passed away. Cocke was a member of Altavista Fire Department.
