WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. --

A man accused of stealing uniforms and other merchandise from Palm Beach County Fire Rescue was arrested when he needed help from that very department just hours later, WPBF 25 News has learned.

Richard Gosman was taken into custody Thursday after he got into a crash in Boynton Beach.

When rescue crews arrived to the scene of the wreck, they said they found the stolen uniforms and electronics in Gosman's van. A call had gone out about the burglaries hours earlier.

Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office investigators said Gosman broke into at least eight vehicles in various fire stations' parking lots.

In addition to the firefighters' uniforms, two GPS devices, a laptop computer and a camera were among the other items stolen.

Gosman, who denied stealing the property, was not hurt in the crash. He's being held at the Palm Beach County Jail.
