Two Md. Firefighters Injured in Apartment Fire

Two Montgomery County firefighters were hurt, one seriously, while battling a blaze at an apartment building early Thursday morning, according to WTTG-TV. The blaze stated in a top floor apartment at the complex on December Way and fire investigators say a woman left something cooking in the kitchen when it caught fire. The woman attempted to get help, but her door shut and automatically locked behind her.

The blaze stated in a top floor apartment at the complex on December Way and fire investigators say a woman left something cooking in the kitchen when it caught fire.

The woman attempted to get help, but her door shut and automatically locked behind her.

A woman across the hallway heard her banging on the door and they pulled the fire alarm and attempted to evacuate the building before crews arrived.

Two firefighters were injured while battling the flames. One was seriously hurt, but officials said the injuries were non-life-threatening.

Twelve of the 14 units were occupied, 28 people were displaced and damage is estimated at one million dollars.
