The AFG application period has been extended from Sept. 9 to Sept. 16 due to the response and recovery to Irene.
"This extension of time will allow our partners to address the immediate needs of their communities while providing adequate opportunity for them to apply for grant assistance under the AFG program," a statement from FEMA read.
Fortunately, FEMA's system did not have any disruption of service due to the storm and any information submitted during that time was received.
