Two Ill. Firefighters Seriously Injured in Rollover

Two Otto Township firefighters were seriously injured Saturday afternoon when their fire truck rolled over after colliding with a car, according to WGN-TV.The collision occurred shortly after 2 p.m. on Route 45 in Kankakee County.The tanker truck was responding to a call with its lights and sirens activated when a car in front of a vehicle it was attempting to pass made a left turn, striking the truck, causing both the car and the fire apparatus to veer off of the road.

The collision occurred shortly after 2 p.m. on Route 45 in Kankakee County.

Engineer James Turner, 67, and Firefighter David Tiburtini, 21, were transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious condition, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

The civilian driver, Amanda M. Collins, 27, was also hospitalized in serious condition.

Collins was cited with having no valid driver's license and no valid insurance.

Illinois State Police is currently investigating the collision.
