Three R.I. Firefighters Injured While Battling Blaze

The Providence firefighters suffered injuries of an undisclosed nature and were transported to Rhode Island Hospital to be treated.
Three Providence firefighters were hospitalized for minor injuries following an early morning blaze Tuesday at a vacant triple decker, according to The Providence Journal.

The fire on Federal Hill at 27 Vinton Street was quickly put out by crews who responded around 1 a.m., Deputy Chief James Mirza told the newspaper.

"On arrival, we had fire extending from the first floor through the interior of the building," he said. "The building had moderate fire damage to the first and second floor and extensive smoke damage throughout."

Crews spent about half an hour to bring the fire under control.

The three firefighters suffered injuries of an undisclosed nature and were transported to Rhode Island Hospital to be treated.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
