HAMILTON, Ohio --

A woman is fighting with the city of Hamilton to get her car fixed. She said it was damaged when a fire truck hit it.

"The door don't shut at all," said Donna Carberry, while showing the damage to her 1995 Ford.

She said it was late at night that she heard sirens and looked out her window.

"I seen a whole bunch of lights, so we raise the blind and I see the fire truck clip the car," Carberry said.

Carberry said she's disabled and the car is her only means of transportation and she can't afford to get it fixed.

Carberry said Hamilton's fire chief told her the crew that hit her car was on its way to a house fire where the second story was fully engulfed. The city has declined to pay for the damage, citing immunity. The law protects employees who are headed to an emergency.

"It's unfair," Carberry said. "How many citizens know if a fire truck or government official comes down a one-way street and hits your legally parked car, there's not a thing you can do about it?"

The fire chief said his crew feels bad about what happened.

Carberry said she plans to talk to the city manager about the damage to her car.
