Crews Battle Lancaster County, Pa. Silo Fire

CAERNARVON TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- Crews are battling a silo fire in eastern Lancaster County. The fire, which broke out around 9:30 a.m., is at Churchtown Farms at Gehman and Nolt roads in Caernarvon Township. The silo on fire is filled with chopped hay. The farm has three other silos. Fire crews are rotating in and out because the temperature inside the silo is well over 100 degrees.

Crews are battling a silo fire in eastern Lancaster County.

The fire, which broke out around 9:30 a.m., is at Churchtown Farms at Gehman and Nolt roads in Caernarvon Township.

The silo on fire is filled with chopped hay. The farm has three other silos.

Fire crews are rotating in and out because the temperature inside the silo is well over 100 degrees.

The silo was three-quarters full when the fire started. A crew has been called to remove the hay so it can be doused.

Crews expect to remain at the scene most of the day.
