Flaming Hawk Blamed for Calif. Wildland Fire

MOSS LANDING, Calif. -- Fire crews said a hawk was responsible for a fire near the Moss Landing power plant. Firefighters said the hawk hit tow power lines on Sunday, causing it to ignite and fall to the ground. The fire started at about 9:30 a.m. and scorched about 13 acres. Fire crews said no buildings were threatened and the fire was extinguished. It took more than 30 firefighters and a dozen vehicles to contain the fire. No injuries were reported.
