Christopher Benitez faced up to 37 years after a jury convicted him of negligent homicide and arson in a supermarket fire that killed Firefighter Bret Tarver.

Benitez allegedly lit cardboard boxes, which started a fire that quickly spread through the building's attic.

Since we has already been in jail for close to two years, he'll only have to serve about five more years behind bars.

Back in November a jury failed to reach a verdict and the judge declared a mistrial.
