N.M. Fire Department Unveils Social Media Policy

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- The Albuquerque Fire Department is getting ready to unveil a new social media policy. The department said it will restrict vulgar posting and any pictures that can be tied back to the department. One firefighter listed his profession as a 911 expletive. Part of the new policy is expected to mirror an APD policy launched in March which affects sites like Facebook and MySpace.

The Albuquerque Fire Department is getting ready to unveil a new social media policy.

The department said it will restrict vulgar posting and any pictures that can be tied back to the department. One firefighter listed his profession as a 911 expletive.

Part of the new policy is expected to mirror an APD policy launched in March which affects sites like Facebook and MySpace.

Anything you taken in the scope of your employment with the Albuquerque Fired Department will be considred our property, AFD Deputy Chief Tige Watson said.

The firefighters union said it has not seen a copy of the new policy yet, but that it encourages anything that is within reason.
