Logan and his family were safe inside a storm shelter during the tornado, but they said as soon as they opened their shelter door, they found their house had been leveled.

"The vents popped off of the cellar, and the cellar immediately filled with insulation, so I knew the house was gone," Logan said.

Logan's personal trucks and his fire department SUV were all smashed and totaled by the storm.

The chief and his two children, Rick and Mitchell, said it was the KOCO weather team that warned them to evacuate their home because of the coming storm.

"It was one of those when you go, 'OK, we're going. Rick, Mitchell, we're going to go to the cellar again,'" Logan said. "I don't know what they are classifying this as, but we wouldn't have survived because our secondary spot is gone."

Neighbors and fellow firefighters helped the family sort through debris and search for things that the Logans can still use.

The family said they plan to rebuild their lost home.

"We've got a long road ahead of us but, you know, we'll make it," Logan said.
