A former volunteer with the Friedensburg Fire Company was sentenced Wednesday to 12 to 24 years in prison for his role in an arson ring, according to The Republican Herald.

Shawn M. Hoy, 22, entered a guilty plea agreement Schuylkill County President Judge William E. Baldwin, who handed down the sentence that includes $725,982 in restitution.

The plea negotiated was for more than 100 charges ranging from arson and risking a catastrophe to burglary, agricultural vandalism and criminal mischief, the report said.

Earlier this year, four other former firefighters and a fifth man pleaded guilty for their roles in the ring.

Hoy's sentence was the most severe of the six men.
