Pa. Fire Co. Official Accused in Theft of $55K

STEELTON, Pa. -- The treasurer of the Steelton Volunteer Fire Department is accused of taking more than $55,000 from the department over the past several years, fire officials said. Milton C. Carnes has been charged in the theft of the money, which was from fire company fundraisers, fire officials said. He admitted to police that he stole money on "numerous occasions" from 2005 to 2010 for his personal use, according to court documents. No taxpayer money was taken.

The treasurer of the Steelton Volunteer Fire Department is accused of taking more than $55,000 from the department over the past several years, fire officials said.

Milton C. Carnes has been charged in the theft of the money, which was from fire company fundraisers, fire officials said.

He admitted to police that he stole money on "numerous occasions" from 2005 to 2010 for his personal use, according to court documents.

No taxpayer money was taken.
