Texas Firefighter Dies of Burns From Wildfire

A Texas firefighter burned over 60 percent of his body earlier this month died early Wednesday.Cactus Firefighter Elias Jaquez, 49, had been hospitalized at University Medical Center in Lubbock since the incident in the Texas panhandle.He was running away from the fierce flames when he tripped and fell. He suffered third-degree burns, and had undergone numerous surgeries.Jaquez had been a volunteer with the Cactus Vol. Fire Dept. for about two years, according to the USFA.

Jaquez had been a volunteer with the Cactus Vol. Fire Dept. for about two years, according to the USFA.

Another Texas firefighter was killed last Friday after he was believed to have been struck by a vehicle while trying to escape flames.
