WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The news from Washington Hospital Center's Burn Unit continues to improve in the wake of last week's blaze that injured five DC firefighters.

Pete Piringer, spokesman for DC Fire and EMS, confirms Lt. Robert "Cadillac" Alverado was released from the hospital Tuesday evening. Firefighter Warren Deavers was released Sunday.

According to Piringer, two firefighters remain in the hospital. The most severely injured firefighter remains in critical condition but is said to be stable. The second firefighter is listed in good condition. Piringer says both of the men had surgery Tuesday.

A fifth firefighter who also received injuries in the blaze was treated and released the same day as the incident.

The firefighters were injured while battling a house fire in the 800 block of 48th Place, Northeast, last Friday. There was a partial roof collapse which brought heat and debris on top of the search crew.
