OAKBORO, N.C. --
Fire investigators said a five-alarm fire at a yarn plant started in the duck work.
Firefighters were called to a fire at the Tusca-Rora Mill on West 8th Street in Stanly County Friday night. According to investigators the fire started at about 11 p.m.
Firefighters said it took 30 firefighters from Oakbore, Ridgecrest and Locust an hour to get the flames and heavy smoke under control.
Authorities said there was no damage to the machines from the fire.
The mill spins cotton thread into yarn.
Workers were evacuated from the building. No one was injured.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
