The FDNY and Marvel comics have teamed up to spread an important message to the city's youth.

Commissioner Salvatore Cassano announced the release of a new comic book focusing on fire safety Tuesday at Midtown Comics in Manhattan.

"Captain America and Spider-Man are all about protecting us from the bad guys. So it makes perfect sense for these superheroes to team up with our fire heroes to save lives through fire safety," he said at the press conference.

The 10-page comic book features firefighters and superheroes battling fires and villains while sharing valuable fire safety lessons.

It includes a surprise ending and sends the reader to the FDNY Foundation's website to see the conclusion of the story.

The books are free and available at FDNY Fire Safety Education events and the FDNY Fire Zone in Rockefeller Center, while supplies last.
