Miss. Firefighter Dies After Leaving Fire

A volunteer with the Unity Fire Department in Lee County died on Feb. 13 after leaving the scene of a fire, according to The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal.

Firefighter Joshua Wilkes, 26, collapsed inside a gas station convenience store while he was purchasing a drink around 4 p.m.

Wilkes and a fellow firefighter were returning to the station and stopped to refuel their truck.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of his death.
