Conn. Fire Station Closes Amid Snow Concerns

VERNON, Conn --

A fire station in Vernon was forced to close Wednesday after firefighters became concerned over snow and ice on the roof.

Equipment and trucks from the station on Nye Street were moved to other fire houses after firefighters noticed unstable movement coming from the roof.

Vernon's mayor Jason McCoy said because the town is only 17 square miles, the response time for emergencies was not going to be affected.
