KANSAS CITY, Mo. --

Two injuries were reported when a school bus slid into a utility pole at 107th Street and Bales Avenue Monday morning.

Authorities said two students on the bus reported minor injuries.

Fire Battalion Chief Joe Vitale said a fire truck responding to the crash slid on the icy roadway and hit the bus.

"There were approximately 15 students on the bus, which was taking students to Warford Elementary. Apparently, the bus slid into a pole and a fire truck from Station 42 responding to the scene, also slid into the bus, doing minor damage. Two children suffered very minor injuries -- one was transported to Children's Mercy as a precaution," said Hickman Mills School District spokesman John Baccala in a news release.

Baccala said the other 13 students were taken to school on a different bus and all were checked by the school nurse and counselor.
