Civilian Dead, 4 Responders Hurt After Calif. Ambo Crash

A patient died and five others -- including two firefighters and two paramedics -- were injured after a Riverside County ambulance was involved in a crash.
A patient died and five others -- including two firefighters and two paramedics -- were injured after a Riverside County ambulance was involved in a crash last night, according to The Press Enterprise.

The crash occurred shortly before 10:45 p.m. off of Ironwood Avenue and Pigeon Pass Road when the ambulance and a car collided.

The ambulance was transporting cardiac patient Ann B. Layton, 47, who died in the crash.

Two paramedics and two firefighters riding in the back of the ambulance with the patient were injured and transported to a nearby hospital. The driver of the car was also injured.

Two of the injuries were described as moderate while the others were minor, according to the report.

The cause of the crash is currently under investigation.
