Pa. Town Rallies Around Injured Firefighters

CHERRY TREE, Pa. -- It's a day Cherry Tree Fire Chief Ben Wilshire will never forget. He was the first person on the scene of a car accident that injured Michael and Krystal Keith. Both are members of the Cherry Tree Fire Company. The couple was responding to a structure fire call when the accident happened. They were both critically injured. "I wasn't even sure who was in the car at first," Wilshire said. Michael and Krystal Keith were rushed to the hospital.

It's a day Cherry Tree Fire Chief Ben Wilshire will never forget.

He was the first person on the scene of a car accident that injured Michael and Krystal Keith. Both are members of the Cherry Tree Fire Company.

The couple was responding to a structure fire call when the accident happened. They were both critically injured.

"I wasn't even sure who was in the car at first," Wilshire said.

Michael and Krystal Keith were rushed to the hospital.

On Thursday, Krystal was recovering at a Pittsburgh hospital.

Her husband was still in a coma at Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown. Wilshire said doctors were working to relieve swelling on his brain.

The fire company includes many members of the Keith family.

Wilshire said everyone is looking forward to Michael and Krystal coming home to Cherry Tree.

"They're a great couple, just made for each other," he said. "They're good people."
