D.C. Firefighters battled a blaze on board a school bus Tuesday in Southeast D.C.

Officials tell 9 NEWS NOW the school bus caught fire in the 2700 block of Langston Place just before 8:00 a.m. According Pete Piringer, spokesperson for DC Fire and EMS, the mid-sized school bus was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived on the scene.

Piringer says the driver, an aide, and several children made it off the bus safely before firefighters arrived. No one was injured.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames within 10 minutes, however, the bus was destroyed.
