1,000 Firefighters Battle Calif. Wildfire

SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, Calif. -- Crews in San Luis Obispo County to continue to battle a wild fire that forced the evacuations of multiple campgrounds in the Los Padres National Forest. The Pozo Fire started Saturday at 12:31 p.m. at Pozo Road southeast of Santa Margarita. The Turkey Flat, Friss, Navajo, La Panza and Navajo Flat campgrounds were threatened by the fire and will remain closed until further notice.

Crews in San Luis Obispo County to continue to battle a wild fire that forced the evacuations of multiple campgrounds in the Los Padres National Forest.

The Pozo Fire started Saturday at 12:31 p.m. at Pozo Road southeast of Santa Margarita.

The Turkey Flat, Friss, Navajo, La Panza and Navajo Flat campgrounds were threatened by the fire and will remain closed until further notice.

The fire had charred 1,263 acres and was 78 percent contained as of Monday afternoon, Los Padres National Forest officials said.

More than 1,000 firefighters are battling the blaze.
