Barn Fire Battle Injures Wisconsin FFs

CEDARBURG, Wis. -- Several firefighters had to be treated for heat-related injuries while they battled a barn fire in Cedarburg on Tuesday night. According to the Ozaukee County sheriff, the fire started at 2:48 p.m. in a barn located at 1992 Cth NN in the town of Cedarburg. When crews arrived the hay barn was fully engulfed. Investigators said hay in the barn may have come in contact with a light or electrical outlet.

Several firefighters had to be treated for heat-related injuries while they battled a barn fire in Cedarburg on Tuesday night.

According to the Ozaukee County sheriff, the fire started at 2:48 p.m. in a barn located at 1992 Cth NN in the town of Cedarburg.

When crews arrived the hay barn was fully engulfed.

Investigators said hay in the barn may have come in contact with a light or electrical outlet.

The sheriff said none of the firefighters was seriously hurt. One calf may have died.

Firefighters will remain on the scene overnight to put out hot spots.

Fire departments from Cedarburg, Grafton, Belgium, Saukville, Germantown, West Bend, Boltonville, Jackson, Newburg, Mequon and Port Washington all assisted in fighting the fire.
