California Firefighter Hurt in Fall Off Cliff

SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. -- A two-alarm fire along the American River Parkway in Fair Oaks threatened several nearby homes Friday. The fire started just before 3 p.m. near Villa Court and took nearly an hour to get under control. More than 30 firefighters helped tackle the flames, which scorched more than 2 acres. One firefighter hurt his ribs when he fell down a cliff. Another suffered heat exhaustion. Both were treated at a hospital. Crews mopped up into Friday evening.
