A vehicle struck a Kern County ladder truck head-on last night, killing the two people inside, according to a department press release.
None of the firefighters aboard the fire truck sustained and injures.
The incident occurred just after 8 p.m. on Highway 178 just east of Rancheria Road.
The ladder truck was returning from a previous call, heading westbound on the road, when the collision occurred.
Crews responded to the collision and paramedics declared the civilian passenger and driver dead on the scene.
The Bakersfield Police Department is currently investigating as to the cause of the crash.
