RACINE, Wis. --

Firefighters were called out to a street fair to rescue some Ferris wheel patrons.

Fire crews said the Ferris wheel at the Party on the Pavement near Sixth and Main streets had become stuck.

Dispatchers said the incident happened at about 2 p.m. Saturday.

Firefighter said a ladder truck was called out to remove all the riders. Fire crews said 17 people were trapped, most of them children.

Investigators said a pin came loose from the Ferris wheel and crews had to stabilize the ride before they could rescue anyone.

It took firefighters about two and a half hours to rescue everyone.

Investigators are still trying to determine why the pin came loose.
