ROEBUCK, S.C. --
Fire in the warehouse area of a Roebuck chemical plant early Monday morning damaged part of the facility.
The fire happened at 3:45 a.m. at Hexion Specialty Chemicals.
Firefighters were able to put the fire out in about 30 minutes.
Seven people working at the plant were able to escape the blaze unharmed.
The site manager told FOX Carolina that the warehouse contains finished products and packaged raw materials. The manager said the chemicals can be dangerous, but there were only small quantities inside when the fire broke out.
The Department of Health and Environmental Control was called to the scene to test the air, which they said was safe to breathe.
Damage from the blaze is still be assessed.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
