Gas Explosion Damages 18 Ga. Homes

GORDON COUNTY, Ga. -- A home in Gordon County was completely destroyed in an explosion Thursday, Gordon County Sheriff's office have confirmed. The blast also damaged a neighboring home. The home is located on Saddle Mountain Drive in Calhoun. Officials said they believe a natural gas caused the explosion. Officials have not said if anyone was inside the home during the explosion. No neighbors were injured.

A home in Gordon County was completely destroyed in an explosion Thursday, Gordon County Sheriff's office have confirmed. The blast also damaged a neighboring home.

The home is located on Saddle Mountain Drive in Calhoun.

Officials said they believe a natural gas caused the explosion. Officials have not said if anyone was inside the home during the explosion. No neighbors were injured.

Gordon County Deputy Fire Chief Terry Mills said 18 homes were damaged, 7 of them have major damage. Mills also said 4 people suffered minor injuries. In total, 80 people were effected by the explosion.

Viewers called Channel 2 Thursday afternoon to say they felt their houses shake when the explosion happened.
